Take a coffee's worth of time in an old Tainan alley
For anyone who comes here looking for something they've lost: coffee worth remembering, brewed with Taiwanese beans in Grandma's old house. (This is an AHHA demo site, not a real café.)

It all started with a memory (demo content, not a true story)
In 2020, I moved back from Taipei to Tainan, into the old house my grandmother had lived in her whole life. Before she passed, she left me a tin. Inside were handwritten recipes, yellowed photos and a bag of Gukeng coffee beans. "Before you forget, remember this place," she wrote in her last letter. Memory Café opened in the spring of 2021. We brew Taiwanese coffee and serve it with pastries from an old Shennong Street bakery, right in Grandma's living room, with her wooden windows, red brick floor and rattan chairs still in place, for everyone who comes here looking for something. If there's something you want to remember too, come sit with us for a while. — Lin Ying-shan, Owner

I brew coffee the way Grandma taught me: slowly, no rush.

Local beans have a personality of their own. Get to know them and you can brew the taste of Taiwan.
Three Things We Care About
Taiwanese Coffee Beans
Alishan, Gukeng and Dongshan take turns on the menu, with a featured region each month, sourced directly from Taiwanese coffee farmers.
Grandma's Old House
Wooden windows and red brick floors from 1962, kept just as they've been for forty years. There's a longan tree out back, and afternoons there are the best.
Classic Tainan Sweets
We partner with century-old sweet shops on Shennong Street and by the Martial Temple for puffed sugar cakes, taro cakes and phoenix-eye cakes, carrying on Tainan's classic flavors.

What our guests say (demo content, not real reviews)
I came down from Taipei to visit an old friend, and she said, "Let's go sit at Memory first." Then I understood why she never wants to leave once she's back in Tainan. I'll remember that puffed sugar cake cold brew latte for the rest of my life.

My grandmother's favorite coffee was from Gukeng. They have it here, and it tastes just like she remembered. I sat there all afternoon, and the owner chatted with me for ages.

I bring my laptop on weekday afternoons to work. Nobody rushes you, the old house is quiet, and one glass of osmanthus oolong cold brew is all it takes to get the ideas flowing.

My husband and I brought our daughter for weekend brunch, and the backyard meant our dog could come too. It's one of the few pet-friendly cafés around. The milkfish congee was a real surprise.
Mrs. Chen

I made the trip just for a bag of their Alishan beans and had a pour-over while I was there. Ms. Lin walked me through the story behind each bean so carefully. I went home with three bags.

FAQ (demo content)
How far in advance should I book?
On weekdays, we suggest booking 1 day ahead. On weekends (especially for brunch), book at least 3 days ahead. Online booking opens two weeks out, so you can pick the time that works for you.
Can I change my booking if something comes up?
You can change or cancel online up to 4 hours before your booking. After that, just message us on LINE.
Do you have Wi-Fi? Can I work there?
Yes. Laptop guests are welcome Monday through Thursday, but during weekend brunch (09:00–14:00) we ask that you keep your visit to 2 hours so others can get a seat.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes, furry friends are welcome in the outdoor backyard. For food safety reasons, we can't allow pets indoors.
Do you sell coffee beans?
Yes. We keep this month's roasts at the counter in 100g and 200g bags for you to brew at home.
Can I book the whole café?
Yes. For groups of 8 or more, message us on LINE at least 7 days ahead. A deposit is required.
Can I just walk in without a booking?
There's usually a seat on weekdays, but bookings get priority on weekends. The average walk-in wait is 30–45 minutes.
Is parking easy?
Cars aren't allowed on Shennong Street. We recommend parking at the Youai Street or Bao'an Road parking lots, a 5–8 minute walk away.
Is this a real café?
No. This is an AHHA demo site, and all business information (address, phone number, team) is fictional. It's here to show what you can actually build with AHHA. Want a site like this? Try it at ahha.com.tw.
